Two decades of celebrating construction excellence
Independent, industry-led and rigorously judged — the definitive recognition programme for the UK built environment.
An idea born from the industry
The Construction Awards Network were established to fill a clear gap: a recognition programme owned by the regional industry itself, judged independently by senior practitioners, and free from the influence of commercial interests. From a modest first ceremony attended by fewer than two hundred guests, the awards have grown into the most significant night in the regional construction calendar.
Today the programme welcomes more than 650 senior leaders from across the contracting, consulting, client and supply-chain communities. It is hosted in a black-tie format at Manchester Central, and remains entirely organised by, and for, the region's construction sector. Every penny raised supports the continuation of the awards and the industry charity partner selected each year by the host committee.
Our Mission
We exist to identify, recognise and celebrate the highest standards of professional achievement in construction across the UK. We believe that visible, credible recognition raises ambition across the industry — encouraging clients to procure better, contractors to deliver better, and the next generation of professionals to enter and remain in our sector.
Equally, we exist to provide a meaningful platform for SMEs and emerging talent. While our headline categories naturally attract larger organisations, our programme is deliberately structured to surface excellence at every scale — from one-person specialist consultancies to tier-one main contractors.
Built on four principles
Independence
Fully independent judging — no pay-to-play, no commercial influence on outcomes.
Transparency
Published criteria, clearly defined scoring and feedback offered to every entrant.
Rigour
Multi-stage shortlisting, site visits for major projects and panel-based final scoring.
Credibility
Recognition that genuinely advances reputations, careers and businesses across the region.
How winners are chosen
Our judging panel is drawn entirely from senior figures across the regional industry — principal engineers, chartered surveyors, architectural directors, sustainability specialists, public-sector clients and developers. Judges are appointed for their expertise, not their commercial position, and must declare any interest in entries they are assessing.
Every entry passes through three distinct stages: an initial eligibility and quality review, a category long-list assessment, and a final scoring round attended by the full category panel. Major project categories include physical site visits or virtual project walk-throughs as part of the assessment. Scoring is conducted against published criteria weighted across technical merit, delivery, impact and innovation.
- All judges declare interests; conflicted judges step out of relevant rounds
- Anonymised scoring sheets are retained for audit purposes
- Feedback is offered to every entrant on request following the ceremony
- No sponsor has any input into category outcomes
Why enter
Being shortlisted or winning a Construction Awards Network award delivers tangible commercial benefit. Recognition opens conversations with new clients, supports successful tender submissions and provides a powerful platform for celebrating your team's work. It is also one of the most effective recruitment and retention tools available to a construction business, signalling to current and future talent that they are part of an industry-leading organisation.
Above all, an award here is a statement that your work has been independently verified as excellent — by the very people whose opinions matter most in the regional industry.
