2024 Shortlist

The 2024 finalists

The organisations and projects shortlisted in 2024 across every category of the Construction Awards Network.

Introduction

A record field of regional excellence

The 2024 shortlist was drawn from the largest entry field in the history of the UK Regional Construction Awards Network. More than two hundred and forty submissions were received from organisations operating across Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Lancashire, Cheshire and Cumbria, ranging from tier-one main contractors and major infrastructure clients to one-person specialist consultancies. Each submission was reviewed through a three-stage independent judging process before the finalists below were confirmed.

Judging was carried out by a panel of senior industry practitioners drawn from across the contracting, consulting, client and supply-chain communities. Judges declared interests at the start of every category review and stood out of any round in which they had a commercial relationship with a shortlisted entrant. All scoring was carried out against the four published pillars of the programme: technical excellence, delivery performance, social and environmental impact, and demonstrable innovation. Major project categories included site visits or virtual project walk-throughs as part of the final scoring round.

The standard of the 2024 entries was, in the judges' words, "the strongest competitive field we have ever assessed". Submissions across the Sustainability, Innovation and Digital Construction categories were particularly notable for the depth of post-completion data evidence presented — a marked evolution from the design-stage intent that dominated entries earlier in the decade. The Collaboration and SME categories drew especially strong fields, reflecting the maturing nature of partnership delivery and the growing visibility of smaller specialist firms across the regional industry.

The shortlist below is presented in alphabetical order within each category. Inclusion on this list represents a significant achievement in itself: every finalist has been independently assessed by senior peers as among the very best in their field across the UK. We extend sincere congratulations to every organisation, project team and individual recognised here.

About the 2024 process

Entries opened in March 2024 and closed at the end of June. Each submission consisted of a written response of up to fifteen hundred words against the published category criteria, supported by up to five project images and optional referee contact details. There was no entry fee and no commercial sponsorship influence on outcomes — a principle that has been central to the integrity of the programme since its earliest editions. Feedback was offered to every entrant on request following the ceremony.

For clients reviewing potential partners, this shortlist is a credible, independently verified guide to the strongest organisations operating across the regional industry. Many of the firms named below have featured on previous shortlists or have been previous winners, while several appear here for the first time — a healthy indication of the continuing renewal of talent and ambition across the UK.
