North West Regional Construction Awards 2021 Winners

The 15th North West Regional Construction Awards recognised regional achievements at Liverpool’s Titanic Hotel in November 2021. Morgan Sindall Construction received Contractor of the Year, while The Spine and Pooley Bridge were recognised in the building and civils project categories.

Context

About the 2021 awards

The ceremony was held on 19 November 2021, with around 400 guests reported in attendance. The awards were held in partnership with Constructing Excellence in the North West and hosted by the University of Salford’s School of Science, Engineering and Environment and the Centre for Construction Innovation. Clear produced and managed the event.

The results recognised conservation, digital construction, innovation, sustainability, collaboration and business performance, alongside five sub-regional project awards. The published report said regional winners would go forward to the national Constructing Excellence Awards in early 2022.

Highlights from 2021

  • The Spine, Liverpool

    The Spine won the Digital Construction Award, Liverpool City Region sub-regional project award and Project of the Year – Building. Its reported team included BIMBox, Morgan Sindall Construction, Liverpool City Council, the Royal College of Physicians, Knowledge Quarter Liverpool and AHR.

  • Pooley Bridge, Cumbria

    The project described in the results as the UK’s first stainless steel road bridge won the Cumbria sub-regional award and Project of the Year – Civils. Eric Wright Civil Engineering, Cumbria County Council, Knight Architects and engineering partners were among the listed organisations.

  • First Light Pavilion

    First Light Pavilion received the Innovation Award and the Cheshire, Wirral and Warrington sub-regional project award. The reported team included the University of Manchester, Kier Construction, Hassell and JM Architects.
